That passion led me to enroll and graduate from Lockworks Academie of Hairdressing in 1993. Determined to advance and fulfill my dream, I passed the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology and became a Licensed Cosmetologist. The love I have for making people feel beautiful led me to secure a position at a local beauty shop, where I perfected my skills and gained confidence from my loyal clientele. Two years into my career, I was blessed enough to become a business-owner at the young age of 20.
After years of experience, I decided to share my knowledge with others by taking on the role as a Cosmetology Instructor at Remington College. My passion for the profession led me to obtaining my certification as a Master Instructor of Cosmetology.
Through my spiritual journey, with an overall of 30-years in the business, I would often wonder what was God's purpose in giving me this gift … or how could I use my gift to bless others? How could I share my gift with the community that has allowed me to reach the pinnacle of my success? It was then that the idea of "Resilient Rubies on the Rise", was born.
"Resilient Rubies on the Rise" will focus predominantly on girls between the ages of 13-17. My ultimate goal and aspiration is to empower young ladies while teaching them skills such as financial management, planning and investments, professionalism in business, and equip them with vision in entrepreneurship. My organizational goal is also to help build confidence, self-worth, and resilience through a faith-based mentorship program.
As a mother of seven children (five birthed and two inherited by love), a grand-mother, teacher, trainer, and business-owner, I understand the importance of having a village for our youth to prosper in.
With the support of local businesses and organizations, I intend to plant a seed that allows our youth to feel beautiful and confident while gaining knowledge that is passed down for generations to come.
During my off time I enjoy quiet time but also enjoy dancing, swimming, roller-skating, traveling and spending time with my grandchildren.
