Although we feel that all of our girls are "Resilient", we would like to extent a special "Ruby" to China Boutte for demonstrating that she is truly "On the Rise". China is President of Student council at Carencro High and was awarded the 12th Grade Student of the year while maintaining a 4.2 GPA. In addition, China was also awared 8th Grade Student of the year from Acadian Middle School. It is this kind of excellence we strive for in all of our Rubies. We wish you and all of our Rubies continued success.
My name is China Boutte, and I am a graduate of the Resilient Rubies on the Rise Spring 2025 group. When I first joined Resilient Rubies, it was something that my mom wanted me to do, so just like everybody else, I showed up to class, but I came into it closed minded and did not say a word. As I kept coming to the classes, my viewpoint started to shift; it began to feel like there was a greater purpose for me being in this program. I am someone who heard the word “Resilient” prior to this program, but I did not actually know what it was until I began to listen to what was being taught to me in RRR. It was so eye opening to me that I ended up getting the word “Resilient” on my wrist as a reminder to “not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go,” as stated in the program scripture, Joshua 1:9. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of this program, and surrounded by women who strive to uplift young girls, and provide them with the wisdom and tools that they will need to survive in this world. A special thank you to Mrs. Tequila for not only the free hairstyles, but the time you have given to me, and also, those hard, but real conversations you’ve shared with me. I hope that one day I can make as much of a difference as you have on me.
